Our Story

The Meat Guyz Story
After six years grinding in Alberta’s corporate world, working long days and selling insurance by night, Patrick needed a new challenge — he just didn’t know it would come from a guy selling steaks out of a van.
A casual conversation at a restaurant changed everything. “You can sell premium meat door-to-door,” a coworker mentioned. Patrick had always loved sales, so he took the leap into what seemed like the most unlikely business imaginable.
The Underground Empire
What he discovered was fascinating: a local entrepreneur had been quietly revolutionizing Calgary’s food scene since the 1990s, delivering restaurant-quality steaks and seafood directly to suburban doorsteps. But “Exclusive Gourmet Foods” was stuck in the stone age — customer lists scribbled in notebooks that got lost in vans, zero technology, everything running on pure street smarts.
Patrick trained for three months in this analog world, learning the hhustle from a master who’d been doing it for decades. The owner took a liking to Patrick and his colleague Andy’s work ethic and business instincts. When retirement conversations began surfacing, it became clear that together, both young mentees would be the ideal candidates to carry on the company’s legacy.

The Brand Revolution
A few years later, they got a chance to recruit a real superstar: Elena, who brought a fresh perspective and organization. They rebranded the company as “The Meat Guyz”—the exact phrase customers naturally used: “Hey, I’ve got a meat guy.” It was catchy, memorable, and straight to the point.
The Pandemic Breakthrough
During the pandemic, the world changed overnight, and everything exploded.
While restaurants closed and grocery stores became battlegrounds, The Meat Guyz found themselves perfectly positioned. Families stuck at home needed premium food delivered safely to their doors. What had been a niche service suddenly became essential.
“We were there when people needed us most,” Patrick recalls. “That’s when we realized this wasn’t just a business — it was the future of food delivery.”

Premium Without Compromise
Today’s operation bears little resemblance to the original notebook-and-van setup. The Meat Guyz sources locally from sustainable suppliers, vacuum-seals everything for zero waste, and uses data analytics to optimize inventory. Their grass-fed ground beef—so premium customers eat it raw as tartare — took five years to perfect and became a top seller.
Yet their mission remains simple: solve real problems grocery stores can’t. Save time, eliminate waste, deliver unmatched quality, and build genuine relationships.
Premium Without Compromise
The results speak for themselves—The Meat Guyz became the first company in the meat sector to receive the prestigious Golden Door Award in 2025 at the international door-to-door conference, recognizing their excellence in customer service, product quality, delivery, and business operations.
“At the end of the day,” Patrick says, “it’s all about connection with people.”

What Your Neighbours Say
“It feels like a friend dropping off groceries—not a delivery.”
I used to dread grocery shopping, especially for meat. Since finding Meat Guyz, I haven’t looked back. The quality is consistently better than anything I’ve found in stores, and the convenience is unbeatable. What I love most? They remember me. The delivery guy knows my name and even checked in about my son’s food allergies. It’s those little touches that keep me coming back.
